IdeaStar on the Move

The IdeaStar office is quickly turning into mountains of moving boxes, as we prepare for our move on Friday, July 15th! Not surprisingly, everyone is having fun packing things and cleaning house despite the craziness that goes along with moving 25 employees and truckloads (literally) of computer equipment.

Project Manager Jane Hudeck is as organized as ever while she packs.

Lots of books have accumulated in the past 5 years...Anybody want to take them home?

Why is Susanne smiling? She has no idea how much packing she still has to do.

Development Director Maung Htun finds a jar of old peanuts. Please throw those out!

Even the developers are getting ready. They will hit the ground running at the new office!

Dale...where are your boxes? We are moving tomorrow!

Developer Steve Harrison takes a snack break. Packing will make you hungry!

Wayne has been finding IdeaStar memorabilia all week.

Developer Phil Hall finds his diploma among the clutter.

Everyone at IdeaStar is excited to have a snazzy, spacious new office and our move is going smoothly. Pictures of us getting settled at the new office will be posted next week! Everybody keep packing!

If you hadn't heard, IdeaStar's new address is:
6161 Oak Tree Blvd. #200 Independence, OH 44131
Our new phone number is 216.674.1600.

A Handsome Group

Here is the most recent photograph of the IdeaStar staff, taken by resident photographer and President, Jim Fisher. We were very lucky to have everyone in the office on photo day, and we didn't have to force them to sneak outside for this. It was a beautiful day!

It's really too bad that we didn't stand in any particular order. Captioning this photo will be interesting!

No Readers Left Out

Never imagined there would be so many "where is my summer reading list?" comments from those who weren't mentioned in last week's "What Are They Reading?" post. Everyone who voiced disappointment was assured that their selections would be covered this week. And, it's a good thing we managed to fit them in. Their choices indicate the diverse mix of interests at IdeaStar, and the discovery of avid readers.

Mike Wise, VP Insurance Technology, enjoys reading in his back yard. He has two books on his list this year:

Delivered from Distraction : Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder ("Seriously," says Mike, "several people in my life have it pretty bad! I need to understand how to best encourage them...")

Sacred Parenting : How Raising Children Shapes Our Souls

IdeaStar President Jim Fisher has a modest goal of finishing the books he started reading last summer (seems reasonable). They are:

Bourne Legacy by Eric Van Lustbader, and The Crisis of Islam by Bernard Lewis.

"If I finish both of those, I plan to read a book about the founders of America. I also want to re-read a book by Ansel Adams called The Negative. In it is an explaination of how to study a scene and then apply the correct exposure in order to produce a perfect film negative.

There had to be somebody reading programming texts! IdeaStar Web & New Media developer Greg Kopp plans on reading ASP.NET using C#, XML Web Services using C#, and C# Database books. "I might listen to The Da Vinci code on audio book. I'm not much for reading novels. I'm entirely too impatient."

Project manager Nic McClain has a diverse summer reading plan. Her list is very ambitious:

The Bible
Search Engine Optimization Tactics
1001 Ways to Be Romantic
Fitness Magazine & Flex Magazine
BowHunter Magazine
Heal Your Headache

Lastly, Creative Director Paul Fresty. "I will be reading The Davinci Code by Dan Brown, and Beatles Gear by Andy Babiuk." It's a unique approach to the Beatles' story that documents the history of their music equipment. "I could read about the Beatles forever," says Paul. "Knowing about their equipment and overall sound is good for Revolution Pie too."
