Never imagined there would be so many "where is my summer reading list?" comments from those who weren't mentioned in last week's "What Are They Reading?" post. Everyone who voiced disappointment was assured that their selections would be covered this week. And, it's a good thing we managed to fit them in. Their choices indicate the diverse mix of interests at IdeaStar, and the discovery of avid readers.
Mike Wise, VP
Insurance Technology, enjoys reading in his back yard. He has two books on his list this year:
Delivered from Distraction : Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder ("Seriously," says Mike, "several people in my life have it pretty bad! I need to understand how to best encourage them...")
Sacred Parenting : How Raising Children Shapes Our Souls
IdeaStar President
Jim Fisher has a modest goal of finishing the books he started reading last summer (seems reasonable). They are:
Bourne Legacy by Eric Van Lustbader, and The Crisis of Islam by Bernard Lewis.
"If I finish both of those, I plan to read a book about the founders of America. I also want to re-read a book by Ansel Adams called The Negative. In it is an explaination of how to study a scene and then apply the correct exposure in order to produce a perfect film negative.
There had to be somebody reading programming texts! IdeaStar Web & New Media developer
Greg Kopp plans on reading ASP.NET using C#, XML Web Services using C#, and C# Database books. "I might listen to The Da Vinci code on audio book. I'm not much for reading novels. I'm entirely too impatient."
Project manager
Nic McClain has a diverse summer reading plan. Her list is very ambitious:
The Bible
Search Engine Optimization Tactics
1001 Ways to Be Romantic
Fitness Magazine & Flex Magazine
BowHunter Magazine
Heal Your Headache
Lastly, Creative Director
Paul Fresty. "I will be reading The Davinci Code by Dan Brown, and Beatles Gear by Andy Babiuk." It's a unique approach to the Beatles' story that documents the history of their music equipment. "I could read about the Beatles forever," says Paul. "Knowing about their equipment and overall sound is good for
Revolution Pie too."
