Our Intern Chris!

It takes a lot of talented, hardworking people to keep IdeaStar shining. One of them is our intern, Chris Arpajian. He’s a real gem when it comes to taking on the smaller tasks, allowing our systems administrator to concentrate on the bigger picture. Add a little Web site testing, troubleshooting, and a few “house calls” to fix clients’ technical problems, and you see how valuable Chris is to us.

The junior at Cleveland State University has yet to declare a major, but he is leaning toward Information Systems Technology (IST) and Computer Information Science (CIS). When he’s done with school, Chris would like to find a career with “some kind of technical relevance, and who knows, I might still be here working in a similar position or something else," says Chris. "We’ll see how the next few years go.”

Chris is also working with a few of his friends to develop a successful clothing company. “I don’t plan on making a living off of that, but wouldn’t it be nice?”

In his spare time, Chris likes to listen to music, bike, or lift weights to stay in shape. "If there's some sun and no rain in the forecast you'll see me washing my car. If its not so nice, than I find nothing wrong checking out a good movie or shooting some pool (even though I'm not great). Realistically my friends often have computer or technical problems which they want me to help.... That is a big time-consumer.”

Chris is always listening to music. “I'll listen to anything from hard rock to techno, just note you won't find any country music in my CD player or computer :-).”

A memorable visit to Los Angeles: IdeaStar at the Walt Disney Concert Hall!

O.K. we didn't perform or anything at the Walt Disney but we did get to visit and hear a concert at Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. IdeaStar is a sponsor of the American Symphony Orchestra League and attended its recent conference in Los Angeles.

The big attraction of coming to the American Symphony Orchestra League was the Walt Disney concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry and the home of Los Angeles Philharmic Orchestra.

The mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio R. Villaraigosa, gave a rousing welcome to our group. If only our mayor, Frank Jackson, could be as open and pleasant to visitors.

John Williams, the composer of many memorable movie scores like Jaws, Star Wars, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, was given The Golden Baton Award by the League.

John Williams gave a gracious talk and then stayed to meet with members and listen to a performance by a youth orchestra.

The California Youth Orchestra played Aaron Copeland's "Appalachian Spring" to the League and John Williams. This must have been a thrill to these outstanding musicians.

Check out the organ at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The outside views of the Walt Disney Concert Hall are captivating.

Well, it's back to work for us. Mary Fisher, IdeaStar's Communications Manager, welcomes League members to our exhibit booth. It was a good trip and we returned with plenty of leads.
